6 LESSONS LEARNT THRU' BREAKUPS

Breakups are those bitter chapters in your life that shape you both, mentally and emotionally. Yes, they are hard, and sometimes, they can feel like they've shattered your world into tiny tiny pieces. But, while on one hand you may have lost someone, on the other, it’s an opportunity to learn lessons that will last you a lifetime!

Here’s a list of 6 important lessons a breakup will teach you.
  1. Life is too short
  2. A popular song lyric goes like this “I am a flower quickly fading here today and gone tomorrow a wave tossed in the Ocean; a vapor in the wind…” Life is too short and death is sure. There’s no time to sink in self-pity. World is full of funny people. It also means that we never run out of opportunities to have new beginnings. Pull your socks up. You're best days are ahead of you.
  3. Never Trust Anyone
  4. Sometimes it’s the people you love and care about most that stab you in the back. After experiencing a breakup, you will learn to keep your distance from some people and also become more cautious about trusting anyone blindly. You will start relying on God more and depend less on people to keep you happy.
  5. Everything is temporary
  6. Remember, "Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining". Nothing lasts forever, and this too shall pass. The post break-up phase may seem never-ending at first, but rest assured it will pass. This lesson here is a tough one, but things will start falling into place as they did once before. There's always light in the end of every tunnel, just pray it's not a train.
  7. Everything happens for good
  8. Sometimes a "mistake" can end up being the best decision you ever make. There are occasions when I look back and feel that everything in my life happened for good. God’s plans are way much better than my own plans. Realize that if a door closed, it’s because what was behind it wasn't meant for you.
  9. You may have failed, but God didn't
  10. It’s only when you hit rock bottom that you experience God in the most intimate way. He comforts you.God didn't take a break from loving you in your breakup — even if you’re the reason it’s over. His purposes are bigger than your blunders. He’ll make the trade any day, and we can be glad he does. Know that God is doing good, even when we feel worst.
  11. Family Will Always Be There
  12. In life, you can choose your friends, your car, your cell phone and pet, but certainly not your family. You were born into their home, and that identity will stick with you forever. More than friends, your family will have your back at all times, financially or emotionally. That’s what breakups do; they teach you the importance of family and their capacity to give you unconditional love and support.

History repeats if the lessons are not learnt the first time!

And…Life is much more than a crappy breakup ;)

TIME

GOD - WHEN is MY TIME?
WHY is it that everyone else is getting married?
WHY can't I find a stable relationship?
WHY is everyone else having babies?
WHY aren't things working out for me?
WHY am I not happy?

Ever had those thoughts? I  have! I have had frustrating moments in the past. All I can say is that the more I pondered on it the more it took away my joy.

I love Ecclesiastes 3:8- It says that THERE is a time for EVERYTHING under the sun. So  there's a TIME for – “YOUR TIME” .You cannot make that "TIME" come any faster by complaining, murmuring, being mad at God, your mom, dad, boss or whoever you're placing the blame on for not having what you think you need.

I had given up on finding a husband. I really had. I had reached my saturation point. No more relationships, no more heartbreaks, no more tears. My “TIME” on earth was running very fast. I was getting old and frustrated. I told my parents I am not going to get married. I told God that I give up. At that point of hopelessness, God intervened. Solomon came into my life. I first saw him at a concert; it was a singing competition happening at my work place. There was loud cheering from the crowd. There he was on the stage rapping Eminem’s “Mocking bird” and “When you’re gone”. I was right at the back, cheering along with my friends. At the end of the competition the judges announced, the runners up of the competition goes to “Solomon Xavier”, there he walked and picked up the trophy. Later after few months I saw him performing at another concert. I must admit that I thought he was awesome :)

Solomon performing at a concert
Few weeks later a common friend of ours introduced us to each other. At work, Solomon was this famous singer and I was this girl who played guitar for Christmas carols. So we kind of clicked off well from the beginning. We spoke about school, college, family, friends, music, food, and of course about relationship. Something about each other attracted us to become much more than friends. He took care of me the way my dad did. He was quick to forgive. He came to church with me. We laughed; we sang; we talked; we both knew we liked each other. One evening, we were at a Coffee CafĂ© when he asked me if I could marry him. I gladly said, yes. The rush of happiness exploded within me. But yea, it was impossible for us to get together because of so many facts and differences. I asked God if he was the one, if he wasn't I told God to take him away from my life. We fasted, prayed and together were seeking for God’s will and for our parent’s approval. It was a long “TIME” of waiting. I could see God molding us and teaching us lot of patience. It was during that “TIME” when I actually understood of the verse, “Love is patient”. The season of silence from God was the toughest phase. What kept me hanging on was Solomon’s faith and perseverance in marrying me. He encouraged me through all my valley experience when he was going through a season of storm himself. But I lost hope again. I almost gave up. I told God to cancel this wedding if it was not His will. At that point of hopelessness, God intervened. When it was finally “GOD’S TIME” everything just fell in place. Our wedding was fixed by our parents in a miraculous way. We cried with happiness. It was “OUR TIME”. We couldn’t believe what God had done for us.

Ethnic day at work
I learnt that when I give up my on my own strength and rely on God’s strength, He steps in and works wonders. He makes all things beautiful in “HIS TIME”. So get ready for “YOUR TIME”!

And they lived happily ever after...

STOP...WAIT...

The sun is up again, the clock ticks six
Messes around the house, all ready to fix
Prepared to tackle the day upon my own feet
Walking on familiar road across the street

Stop...wait...Have I forgotten Someone?

I live, I laugh, I eat, I talk, I work
As I travel, sometimes in traffic I lurk
Millions of dreams and memories I think
Deep into this really busy world I sink

Stop...wait...Have I forgotten Someone?

Tired i lay, at the end of the another day
I think about all that has passed my way
In contentment I've gained everything
Is life worth living for all or nothing

Stop...wait...Have I forgotten Someone?

I then open my heart and my blinded eyes
To thank and praise Him my voice I raise
Yes, Someone's waiting, watching over me
Acknowledging Him How happy will I be

Stop...wait...I have remembered God!!!

LET GO

Someone once said, “If you let go a little, you will have a little peace. If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of peace.” It would be so much simpler and more enjoyable if we learned to just release certain limitations.

I was pondering on THREE THINGS TO LET GO off:

1. LET GO WORDS

Too many people say too many thing knowingly or unknowingly which might hurt you a wee bit. At the end of the day when you lie on your bed, these words seem to rewind on your mind. Eventually it builds up. The next time you see the person you kinda feel uneasy. Yes, this is a symptom that you need to let go off words spoken.“Life becomes easier when you learn to accept an apology you never got.”

I guess some people spoke hurting words and made fun of Noah while he was building the ark. I'm sure Noah just let go of words spoken by them. He might have just ignored and kept his peace.

2. LET GO THINGS/ JOB

All of us have our favourite things which we can't live without on this earth. For example, a teenager might say I cant live without my cell phone. My friend once said I can't live without eating Non-vegetarian food. May be some would say I cant live without a cup of coffee. We are all addicted to something or the other.

When Jesus called Peter & Andrew, they immediately they left the boat and followed Him.( Matthew 4:20). Peter & Andrew let go off their net(fishing) which was their job.

3. LET GO PEOPLE

Some people are very dear to us. And we just can't live without them. God gives and sometimes takes away people from our lives. Also God sometimes tests us if we love people more or we love Him more.

In Genesis 22 we see that Abraham loved Isaac so much. When God asks Him to give away his only son. He obeyed God. He let go of Isaac. But God is so good that sometime He even gives them back to us. Just like God gave Isaac back to Abraham.

Letting go doesn't always mean we are strong but it's an action of trusting God. Knowing that God is in control. Knowing that God knows the best. God knows what He is doing.

I hope that today we will let go off words spoken, let go off things and let to off people when we have to.

GOD PROVIDES

Genesis 22:2
Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”
Just like God told Abraham to sacrifice his son whom he loved so much, God told me that I need to sacrifice people whom I love. I have climbed Mt. Moriah over and over again. I held people I love dearly. Nothing could snatch them away from me. God had to deal with me. Every time I started getting close to people rather than getting close to God, He would ask me to sacrifice them. I had to let many people go from my life. Letting go off people whom you love is not easy. I’m sure it wasn’t easy for Abraham to sacrifice his ONLY son, whom he LOVED. I had to obey God without questioning Him just like Abraham. I climbed Mt. Moriah, I laid people on the altar and God took them away from me. He did not stop.
The last time I climbed Mt. Moriah, it was very hard. I laid the person whom I love the most on the altar. I also laid my desires, my strength, my weakness, my marriage, my family, my job, my future, my tears; I laid EVERYTHING on the altar. I gave him to God. I gave my Isaac to God. This time, God gave him back to me. Indeed God provides. No wonder Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”
There may be situations in our life where the Lord is asking to lay something on the altar. It may be something close to your heart. A loved one, a loved job, a loved vehicle, a loved thing, a loved house or even a loved place. You may have to obey God and climb Mt. Moriah. Lay it on the altar. God may either give it back to you or take it away from you for your good. He is God. He knows the best for you. He loves you.
Are you ready to climb Mt. Moriah now?

The story of Abraham is found in Geneisis 22 1-18

SOMEBODY'S ME

I feel sometimes I'm not loving God as much as I need to. I so wanno start loving Him all over again. God was showing me lil' bit of His love for me in this powerful passage. It was like He told me, "No matter how much you have messed up, I'll still have mercy on you". Especially the last line, "I'll say to Nobody, "You are my dear Somebody".

This was God's message from Hosea chapter 2:

14-15 “And now, here’s what I’m going to do:
I’m going to start all over again.
I’m taking her back out into the wilderness
where we had our first date, and I’ll court her.
I’ll give her bouquets of roses.
I’ll turn Heartbreak Valley into Acres of Hope.
She’ll respond like she did as a young girl,
those days when she was fresh out of Egypt.

16-20 “At that time”—this is God’s Message still—
“you’ll address me, ‘Dear husband! 'Never again will you address me,
‘My slave-master!’
I’ll wash your mouth out with soap,
get rid of all the dirty false-god names,
not so much as a whisper of those names again.
At the same time I’ll make a peace treaty between you
and wild animals and birds and reptiles,
And get rid of all weapons of war.
Think of it! Safe from beasts and bullies!
And then I’ll marry you for good—forever!
I’ll marry you true and proper, in love and tenderness.

Yes, I’ll marry you and neither leave you nor let you go.
You’ll know me, God, for who I really am.

21-23 “On the very same day, I’ll answer”—this is God’s Message—
“I’ll answer the sky, sky will answer earth,
Earth will answer grain and wine and olive oil,
and they’ll all answer Jezreel.
I’ll plant her in the good earth.
I’ll have mercy on No-Mercy.
I’ll say to Nobody, ‘You’re my dear Somebody,’
and he’ll say ‘You’re my God!’

Reminds me few lines from Enrique's song, "SOMEBODY'S ME". It's like God telling me these lines:
Somebody wants you
Somebody needs you
Somebody hopes that one day you will see
That somebody's ME

LEARNING FROM CRISIS EXPERIENCES

After Daddy's accident, God has been teaching us lot of things. This morning Daddy just told me to type this, felt like publishing it here. Hope it blesses you if you are going through some crisis.

Sometimes or the other in our life we face Crisis Experiences. Serious sickness, unexpected death of loved one, or even accidents can be a Crisis Experiences to some. For others it could be marital unfaithfulness, break away of relationships, financial crisis or a spiritual crisis. In Gods economy we all can learn life lessons in these Crisis Experiences. The following are the three important life lessons that we can learn in Crisis Experiences.

1.LEARNING FROM THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD

Whatever the crisis experiences we may face, we can always learn something about the Sovereignty of God. God is Sovereign. He is the controller of the Universe. It is true we may not understand God’s Sovereign dealings. But we can always believe in the Sovereignty of God. King Nebuchadnezzar had a very serious Crisis Experience. He became like an animal. He had this Crisis Experience for seven long years. But he learnt a precious lesson on the Sovereignty of God. We read about it in Daniel 4:35, “He does as He pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back His hand or say to him: ‘What have you done?’”. Learning about the Sovereignty of God in our Crisis Experiences is a life lesson.

2. LEARNING NOT TO TRUST IN OURSELVES

This is a very important life lesson that many miss out in normal life situation. We all have a strong self-will. Watchman Nee says most believers do not learn this important lesson before going to heaven. Once you learn this you will be dynamite for God. When Apostle Paul was in the province of Asia, he has a series of Crisis Experience. Kindly note the lesson that he learnt through it all. “Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.”- 2 Corinthians 1:9. Learning not to trust in ourselves in our Crisis Experiences is a life lesson.

3. LEARNING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT OTHER GO THROUGH

The Lord Jesus becoming human is to identify with what we go through. Therefore He was compassionate towards the Crisis Experience of humanity. “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are — yet was without sin.” - Hebrews 4:15. Just as our Lord understood what we go through in Crisis let us also understand others in their time of crisis. We understand others better when we ourselves go through the Crisis Experiences they go through. Learning to understand what others go through in our Crisis Experiences is a life lesson.
Amy Carmichael was a missionary in India, who opened an orphanage and founded a mission in Dohnavur in Tamil Nadu. She served in India for 55 years without furlough and wrote about many books. She had a Crisis Experience in 1932. She had a fall and severely injured. Carmichael remained bedridden for the final 20 years of her life. However, it did not stop her from continuing her inspirational writing, for she published 16 additional books, as well as revised others she had previously published.
Crisis Experiences in life need not paralyze our life for God on this earth!

TOO MUCH TO BEAR

"How do you know when how much is too much? Too much too soon. Too much information. Too much fun. Too much love. Too much to ask... And when is it all just too much to bear?"

Here again I have ripped my own heart
Unbearable pain from the sharp dart
Got up to leave but just right fell in
Bruised and shattered deep within
…And when it’s too much too bear

Guilt stricken, disturbed with heavy load
Tears crash onto the floor of life’s road
Enduring this war of continuous regrets
Negative voices have become my threats
…And when it’s too much too bear

Groping in the dark to find a ray of hope
I rage in frustration beyond I can cope
I can hardly breathe; barely surviving
Trying so hard to escape from drowning
…And when it’s too much too bear

I’m not strong; I stumble when others run
Mostly all by myself; conversing with none
Millions of memories they rush and come
To that part of me which is dead and numb
…And when it’s too much too bear

And my heart cries, I wait for pain to melt
Surrendering all at the cross I have knelt
Gathering the pieces of my heart I bring
To You my Master, my Saviour, my King

…And when it’s too much too bear
He bears my burden

YOU ARE...

This is for you ...yes, it's you :)

You are with me
When I open my eyes each dawn
You are with me
As my thoughts on you are drawn
You are with me
In every first and last yawn

You are with me
When my path is narrow
You are with me
Like a shadow to follow
You are with me
Like a strong bow and arrow

You are with me
When it's raining and cold
You are with me
When I need a hand to hold
You are with me
When my dreams they unfold

You are with me
When my heart sings
You are with me
Your voice in my ear rings
You are with me
I can fly without wings

You are with me
Even when I don't talk
You are with me
Like a strong rock
You are with me
In every single walk

You are with me
For ever all the way
You are with me
strong come what may
You are with me
Like a hope of ray

You are with me
As I calculate each day
You are with me
In every talk I convey
You are with me
As I look back yesterday

You are with me
In every breathe I take
You are with me
In every plan I make
You are with me
As long as I am awake

I HATE IT WHEN I HURT YOU

Sadness has filled my heart tonight
Darkness has over shadowed the light
Oh I wish everything could be alright
I hate it when i hurt u

Please do tel me the things you hide
I really never meant to keep you aside
My guilt is killing me deep inside
I hate it when i hurt u

How do I tel you that I hate to fight
Being fine is all what I delight
Im crying with silent tears as I write
I hate it when i hurt u

I know you love me with all your heart
I wish things wouldn't tear u apart
Is there something like a fresh start
I hate it when i hurt u

Will time and come and take me back?
Coz I want to get on the right love track
I want to love Someone without any lack
coz I hate it when i hurt u

SOMEONE

This very minute-
Someone is thinking of you.
Someone cares about you.
Someone misses you/wants to be with you.
Someone wants to hold your hand.
Someone wants you to be happy.
Someone wants to hug you.
Someone will do anything for you.
Someone needs to know your love is unconditional.
Someone wants to tell you how much they care.
Someone wants to stay up watching movies with you.
Someone wants to hold you in their arms.
Someone wants to see you.
Someone wants to be your lover.
Someone loves you for who you are.
Someone loves the way you make them feel.
Someone wants to be with you.
Someone wants you to know they are there for.
Someone is glad that you’re their friend.
Someone is wishing you would notice them.
Someone wants to get to know you better.
Someone loves you.

There is someone out there for me
Can you tell me his name?
How does he laugh? How does he cry?
What is the color of his eyes?
Does he even realize I’m here?
Where are you??- “Where Are You”

You yearn for someone not because you want to be complete but because you want to add more color to your life. That person must not necessarily break through your schedule but inspire you to manage your time instead. You see, it is not a matter of distance and time. It is more like a relationship in a higher level. It is smiling alone every once in a while, knowing that somewhere, somehow, someone smiles at the thought of you too.
